Cannell Plunge: Located at the top of Sherman Pass in the southern Sierras ending in the town of Kernville. Like the Palm Canyon Epic this is an XC shuttle and keep in mind to allow 6-7 hours of day light to complete this ride. This 29 mile ride starts at 9600 ft and ends roughly at 3500 ft. The major descent is the plunge which looses about 4000 vertical feet in 7 miles. By the time you get to the plunge you’re happy to see it continuously plummet downhill. Some outfitters in Kernville offer shuttle service to the top but usually have a 4 person minimum. Even with the high elevation this ride gets very hot in July and August. The 1st 7 miles is open to motorcycles but the remainder is for hiking, horseback riding and biking only.
